Spain are world champions. Argentina had chances to hang on, but Enzo Fernández's second-half red card left them with ten men, and Spain finally broke through in the 106th minute when substitute Ferran Torres fired home the winner. A 1-0 extra-time victory closed out an undefeated tournament for Spain — and quite possibly Messi's last World Cup match for Argentina.
It capped off a wild final week: England and France traded blows in a 6-4 third-place thriller just days earlier, one of the highest-scoring matches in World Cup history.
